      Nano to Be Available Now Without Bookings

      Tata Motors has ramped up production of its small car Nano at its Sanand plant in Gujarat. Now it will soon start sales of its car that will be available for ready delivery. “At this point we do not have any specific guidance on a date. We will announce the opening up of sales at an appropriate time,” said a spokesman for Tata Motors.

      The plant has the capacity to produce 2.5 lakh units which can be ramped up to 3.5 lakh units. At its make-shift facility in Pantnagar the company produced close to 4,500 Nanos a month. The company which started delivery of the Nano in mid-2009, sold 30,350 units according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers data, till March 2010.

      Tata Nano has helped Tata Motors to record unprecedented sales. As the Sanand plant becomes freshly operational, Tata Motors is expected to become India’s second largest auto maker in the country.
