The Range Rover Evoque has been Land Rover’s bestseller globally and contributes to a large chunk of sales in India. Known for its stylish design and classy looks, the Evoque has defined the styling template for Land Rovers of the future. The diesel-only compact urban SUV from the British carmaker is set to get a new heart – the latest 2.0-litre Ingenium series of engines.

      New Range Rover Evoque

The engine will now be replaced by the new 2.0-litre Ingenium series diesel engine. Just like the new Discovery Sport, the Range Rover Evoque might be offered with two states of tune – the 148bhp/380Nm setup or the 177bhp/430Nm setup. As of now, the Evoque gets the 2.2-litre four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that develops 188bhp of power at 3500rpm and 420Nm of torque from 1750rpm. This engine is based on the Duratorq engine developed by Ford in association with Peugeot almost a decade ago.
The Ingenium series of engines is lighter and more efficient as compared to the 2.2-litre mill while offering more torque and better driveability. Jaguar-Land Rover have imported Pure trim with the 148bhp setup and SE and HSE trims with the higher output setup. Like the Discovery Sport, the 177bhp setup may be reserved for higher trims. The cars have been imported for homologation last week and the new engine might be offered with the 2017 model year of the Range Rover Evoque which underwent a facelift for MY2016.
With other carmakers launching petrol versions of every model in their lineup, we may also get the 2.0-litre Si4 petrol four cylinder engine with the 2017 Evoque.
