      New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class introduced in India at Rs 2.50 crore

      The country leading luxury automaker, Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2022 Maybach S-Class in India at a starting price of Rs 2.50 crore (ex-showroom, India). The newly launched Maybach S-Class is available in two variants – S580 and S680, wherein the former is locally produced at the company’s facility in Pune, while the latter has been introduced via the CBU route. Interestingly, the S580 emerges as the most technologically advanced vehicle to be rolled out from the company’s production facility in Pune. It is worth noting that the S680 is sold out till 2023.

      The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is 18cms longer than the regular S-Class. The vehicle gets a distinctive bonnet with a chromed fin and a Mercedes-Maybach radiator grille. Moreover, the word ‘Maybach’ has been integrated into the chrome surround of the grille. The sides are highlighted by flush-fitted door handles and a unique set of 19-inch wheels. The ORVMs feature LED ambient lighting, which projects the brand logo next to the opened front doors. For the first time, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is equipped with electrically operated rear doors. Customers can choose from 10 two-tone colour options and five single-tone colour options.

      In terms of features, the 2022 Maybach S-Class offers next-generation advanced driving assistance, NTG 7 MBUX infotainment, an innovative network of cars via ‘Car-to-x technology’, massage function for the calf, and neck and shoulder heating function at the rear seats along with adaptive rear compartment lighting. Moreover, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is equipped with active road noise cancellation technology, which is powered by Burmester 4D sound system. In terms of safety, the vehicle offers PRE-SAFE, 13 airbags (including the two beltbags), Car-to-X Technology, Urban Guard Plus, Level 2 autonomous driving with ‘Evasive Steering Assist’, Active Brake Assist with ‘cross traffic function’, and more.

      Mechanically, the Maybach S-Class S580 is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine with an integrated second-generation starter alternator (ISG) and a 48-volt onboard electrical system to produce 496bhp and 900Nm of torque. This model is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 4.8-seconds. On the other hand, the S680 is powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine which produces 603bhp and 900Nm of torque. Both the engines get the 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph. The vehicle also offers four-driving modes, including the new ‘Maybach mode’.
