After bringing the GLE 450 AMG Coupe and the Edition E to India earlier this year, Mercedes India has moved up quite a few notches to launch the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard. Priced at a cool Rs 10.5 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), this new addition is a heavily armoured version of the standard car.

The highlight of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard is the fact that it meets VR10 protection rating which is the highest rating for civilian vehicles. The brand has managed to achieve this using toughened windows that can take on hardened steel core bullets and withstand a blast of 15kg of TNT from as close as four metres away. The car also features thick armour plating on the underside and special PAX run-flat tyres for added protection.

Powering the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard is the familiar 6-litre V12 petrol engine that develops 530bhp of power and 820Nm of torque. The suspension has also been heavily beefed up to deal with tonnes of additional weight.

The Maybach Guard is now on sale as a fully imported vehicle and competes with the Audi A8L Security and the BMW 760Li High Security here in the Indian market.
