The three top car makers that dominate the world of cars today, have been making every possible effort to suppress each other to claim supremacy in the luxury car segment for a long time now, and seeing the current trend, the fight seems to be immortal. The latest move seems to emerging from the Mercedes-Benz camp, which has planned to launch a powerful drive against its counterpart BMW, particularly its masterpiece X6.

The car maker recently confirmed “an entirely new Mercedes-Benz model” that would be introduced in the market by 2015. Moreover, the new crossover coupe will confront the BMW X6 and will be produced completely in the United States of America. It is important to note that U.S.A is one of largest markets in the world, not solely for BMW or Audi but also Mercedes-Benz.

The car maker from Stuttgart, Germany has invested money to the tune of $350 million in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant which would be responsible for giving rise to the new SUV. The soon-to-be-launched X6 rival will be called GLS and could have the assembly of styling features inspired from the CLS sedan.

However, GLS crossover coupe has a lot to look forward to, like the increased seating capacity of four unlike the usual five seat configurations. The power quotient of the SUV is expected to boost more force, with a bigger V8 motor and frugal diesel in the form of a V6. Over a period of time, Mercedes-Benz is strongly believed to launch an upgraded and more attractive AMG version based on the standard GLS.

As a matter of fact, BMW has been very successful in India at present and the car maker has overshadowed Mercedes-Benz, even when the latter has been operating for a much longer time. BMW disseminates the ace X6 in India too and as the new Mercedes-Benz GL makes its way into the luxury car market, probably in five-seater guise, the two car makers are set to escalate the competition level to new highs.
