      Mercedes-Benz puts up a strong performance in 2013

      2013 saw positive outcomes for Mercedes-Benz as far as performance in the Indian market is concerned. The luxury car maker managed to record highest sales ever of 9003 units in 2013 and thus, posted an overall growth of 32 per cent as compared to the corresponding period of 2012. In the corresponding period of last year, the company delivered a total of 6840 units. Even so more, the second half of the last year (July to Dec) proved to be a mega success for the company. During this period, Mercedes-Benz recorded a growth of 45 per cent on the back of some successful product launches in Indian market.

      As a matter of fact, the auto company referred 2013 as the 'Year of Offensive' with prime focus on Products, Network, Cost of Ownership and Brand Experience. Having tasted success, the brand with three poitned star is now all charged up to put forth even a better performance in the current year 2014 (being referred as 'Year of Excellence'). Mercedes-Benz India announced the score card for 2013 on January 3, 2014. In the report, the auto company highlighted its major achievements, prime being growth of 32 per cent.

      Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz India seemed to be highly excited about the good show in 2013. He said that the company is glad to see an exciting finish to the ‘Year of Offensive’. He emphasised that customers have appreciated models in A-Class, New E-Class and SUV portfolios. Even though the market conditions were very demanding, the company has achieved its set targets. Kern also mentioned that “Our consumers have clearly appreciated our initiatives and we enter 2014 with a clear promise of delivering 'Excellence'.”

      A beak up report shows that Mercedes-Benz managed to churn out a growth of 16 per cent in first half of 2013 (Jan to June). During the second half (July to Dec), it saw a growth of 45 per cent. In 2013, the auto company launched a total of eight new models across different segments. The company also added nine new touch points in cities like New Delhi, Baroda, Coimbatore, Noida, Gurgaon, Rajkot, New Mumbai, Lucknow and Pune. Mercedes-Benz took initiatives like 'My Mercedes' program and inaugurated ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Pune. The 'My Mercedes' program was geared towards ensuring a low cost of ownership.
