Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury carmaker, has finally revealed the GLE Coupe. Set to rival BMW X6 Coupe, the GLE is publicized as a ‘striking’ amalgamation of a coupe and a crossover. However, the vehicle appears more like a crossover.
The GLE Coupe is equipped with an aggressive front fascia with a single bar grille, which is complemented by LED headlamps. Its rear profile seems inspired by the S-Class coupe, while the sloppy roof gives it a crossover-ish look. There is plastic body cladding and dual exhaust system to add some sporty character to it. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to 20-inch alloy wheels; also on offer are 21- and 22-inch alloys as options.
The AMG-spec- the GLE 450 AMG is equipped with an aggressive AMG body kit that comprises of AIRMATIC air suspension, an adaptive system, 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels and an automatic lowering function to adjust ride height at higher speeds.
The GLE 400 4MATIC variant is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine that is good for 330bhp and 480Nm of torque, while the GLE 350 d 4MATIC makes 255bhp and 620Nm of torque. The AMG-spec model is propelled by a massive twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 unit that is capable of producing 365bhp and 520Nm of torque. Engine is coupled to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The vehicle comes with a Dynamic Select system that offers five driving modes: INDIVIDUAL, COMFORT, SLIPPERY, SPORT and SPORT+.
