Mercedes Benz dealers in India have started accepting bookings for the standard upcoming GLA Class at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. Deliveries are likely to begin after vehicle’s launch in November 2014. If media reports are to be believed, bookings for yet another eagerly awaited vehicle from Mercedes- CLA 45 Class will begin in the upcoming months. The company exhibited both the vehicles at the 12th edition of Auto Expo held in Greater Noida earlier this year. The standard versions of GLA and CLA along with their AMG version are highly awaited in the domestic market.

GLA Class will be offered in India in two trim levels- 200 CDI and 200 Sport. The 200 CDI trim is likely to be housed with a 2.2 litre diesel powertrain capable of producing a maximum power output of 136 HP along with a top torque of 300 Nm. 200 Sport variant on the other hand will come equipped with a 1.6 litre turbocharged gasoline engine good for 156 HP of maximum power and 250 NM of top torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission will come paired with both petrol and diesel engines with paddle shifters. Mercedes GLA will come equipped with seven airbags, while features exquisite to petrol trim include front parking sensor and panoramic sunroof. GLA will be positioned a notch above A-Class and B-Class.

Expected to be priced aggressively, the new GLA Class will face competition from rivals like Audi Q3 and BMw X1.
