At the juncture where mounting petrol prices has hit the Indian auto sector hard, the country’s leading auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Limited is endeavouring to provide high fuel efficiency with its new offering Alto 800, based on its flagship small car Alto. The new Alto 800 will be priced at range higher than the existing Alto model and is scheduled to hit the market in the later phase of current year.
Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 will embody technological advancements in the form of an upgraded engine to deliver greater fuel efficacy and a revamped Alto platform in a bid to curtail the vehicle development costs. It is anticipated that the company will commence the large scale production of the small car in July or August at its Gurgaon manufacturing plant.
While the company officials have refused to disclose any details pertaining to the development of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 but it has been revealed that at present, this new Maruti sibling is undergoing various test sessions at various developmental stages.
Alto has been the segment leader since its inception in the country, but with intensifying competition, rising petrol prices and mounting interest rates, the sales of Alto have considerably declined. With the launch of this upbeat and sharply styled Alto 800, the automaker is stepping forward to capture the small car segment as well as accelerate the overall sales percentage.
