Maruti Suzuki India, the automaker that is known for bringing a revolution in the Indian automotive sector, has once again stepped up by repositioning the original version of its highly successful entry level sedan, Swift Dzire especially for the commercial segment while the latest version of the Dzire has hit the market in the month of February 2012.

The commercial segment Swift Dzire will be branded as Swift Dzire Tour that will be offered only in base variants LXi, the petrol variant and LDi, the diesel variant. The car will be sold exclusively to the taxi and fleet vehicles operators from the month of April this year.

Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager (Marketing), Maruti Suzuki India, commented about the car’s branding to a taxi specific model, saying, “We have given a separate name to the older Dzire as we don’t want to dilute the Dzire’s brand image. The commercial space is a large market and we hope to increase Dzire’s overall sales further with Tour.”

He further added, “We will launch Tour in only the base variant as price and value are very important considerations for commercial operators.”

The Tour will be furnished with basic attributes such as AC and made of steel power steering with black coloured outside rear-view mirrors, front & rear bumpers and door handles instead of colour options.

The Swift Dzire Tour is supposed to be launched at a price of Rs 5.91 lakhs for the diesel variant and Rs 4.88 lakhs for the petrol variant. The car will not only be rivaling in terms of features but also will give tough price competition to the segment leaders like Toyota Etios, Tata Indigo XL and Mahindra Verito.
