Maruti Suzuki offers Ertiga in a price range of Rs. 5.89 lakhs to Rs. 8.45 lakhs

Maruti Suzuki India that has marked its entry into the utility vehicle segment with the recently launched Ertiga has announced an introductory price for the compact MPV in the range of Rs. 5.89 lakhs to Rs. 8.45 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

The seven-seater compact MPV incorporates the debut of K-14 VVT 1.4 litre petrol engine in the Indian portfolio of the company. The car also comes with a 1.3L turbocharged diesel engine to deliver a high fuel efficiency of 20.77 kmpl. While the competition for the diesel version of Ertiga would emerge from Mahindra Bolero and Tata Sumo Victa, the petrol version will hardly have a competitor to rival with.

Mr. S Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, was quoted as saying, "Utility Vehicles are a promising segment, and we have been largely absent from here so far. The segment has demonstrated a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20 per cent over the past three years. We strongly believe that this trend will continue in future..."

The automaker has set apart an investment of Rs. 400 crore for the production of Ertiga at its Gurgaon plant and has targeted to achieve highly impressive sales of 5000 units a month.

Ertiga has been designed exclusively for a common Indian buyer who requires compact cars with spacious interiors along with class leading fuel economy. The compact MPV is offered by the company in six variants and seven exciting colours with the base petrol variant priced at Rs. 5.89 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and top-end variant to be tagged at Rs. 8.45 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
