The Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has said that the ongoing stand-off at the Manesar plant of the company is not a labor problem. The firm has termed it as a political issue and said that it will not compromise on its established norms for industrial relations.

The yet another workers strike started on 29th August when company forced its workers to sign the ‘good conduct bond’, in a bid to avoid any quality related issues in future. So far, 63 workers have agreed to sign the bond out of a total of more than 900 workers. The strike has affected the production of company’s recently launched Swift model very badly, and forced it to stop receiving bookings in the country.

Speaking at the 30th Annual General Meeting in the National Capital, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Chairman R C Bhargava said, "My understanding is that the Manesar labour problem is essentially a political issue and not a problem which involves any significant demand from the workers. He added, "We do not intend to compromise on that. We have been talking to the workers and we have made it clear to them that we will not compromise."

Meanwhile, the is firm gearing-up to set-up a new manufacturing plant in Gujarat, and an official announcement on the same can be made by next month.
