After the successful launch of the Celerio AMT, Maruti Suzuki India is planning to bring-in new AMT models of its other popular cars. One of those recipients will be the Swift Dzire, whose test mule has been recently spotted testing in India.
The spotted model here is the top-end diesel variant - ZDi - of the compact sedan, which is expected to launch during this year’s festive season. The AMT for the Dzire diesel will be sourced by Magneti Marelli – the Italian AMT kit supplier. The Swift Dzire diesel AMT will continue to feature the 1.3-litre Multijet engine that also does duty to the regular manual models. This powertrain offers a maximum power of 74bhp at 4, 000rpm, while producing a peak torque of 190Nm at 2, 000rpm.
Just so you know, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire diesel, currently, is the most fuel efficient car in the country. The new 5-speed AMT won’t affect the fuel efficiency of the car, and it will continue to deliver the class-leading mileage of 26.59kmpl.
Since the vehicle received a facelift earlier this year, the design will remain unchanged. The top-end ZXi trim will continue to offer features like automatic climate control, dual airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), ESP (electronic stability program), traction control system, brake assist etc.
Upon its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire AMT will rival against the Tata Zest AMT which is the only compact sedan to feature this gearbox.
