      Maruti Suzuki aspiring to take first spot from Hyundai as India's largest exporter

      Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's favourite automobile manufacturer, has revealed intentions to become India's largest exporter of passenger cars. The company wishes to manufacture 3 million vehicles over the next five years, a part of its strategy dedicated at achieving its ambitious objective. At present, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), a completely owned subsidiary of South Korean auto major Hyundai Motor Co., is the largest exporter of passenger cars in the country.

      Maruti Suzuki, a part of Japanese multinational auto major- Suzuki Motor Corp., is the country's largest passenger car maker and is followed by Hyundai Motor India at the second spot. The company has made its intentions extremely clear that it will go all lengths towards snatching number one position from Hyundai, as the largest exporter of passenger vehicles in India.

      The latest development has been given a go-ahead by Osamu Suzuki, Chairman, Suzuki Motor Corp., who was in the National Capital on January 25, 2013 for a special senior management meeting. The company has also crafted a panel of top-level management officials, who will dedicate their efforts towards realising the ambitious target. The team will be led by four senior Japanese executives of Suzuki Motor Corp., T. Suzuki, Osawa Naoki, Hosai and K. Imegawa. Further, an equal number of Indian executives will be part of the team with various backgrounds from sales, marketing, Research and Development (R&D) to production.

      As per reports, Suzuki Motor Corp. has planned to make India its global automobile manufacturing hub. Evidently, the Japanese auto major is looking towards countering stiff competition from other auto majors, such as Volkswagen, Nissan, Renault and Fiat, amongst others worldwide.
