Maruti Suzuki has launched the automatic variant of its small car model A-Star. The model comes as first automatic variant in the A2 segment priced at Rs. 4.35 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The Maruti A-Star manual transmission was launched earlier and featured a new generation engine spelling fuel efficiency. Since then, MSIL has upgraded nearly all its models to the new series engine.

Maruti had earlier launched few automatic variants of its models but discontinued due to low sales volumes. However, in past two years, auto market scenario in India has changed drastically and car sales are all time high. Moreover, customers have been asking for automatic variants more than ever before.

"The A-star automatic customer will be able to enjoy an enhanced 360 degree driving experience," the company said in a statement. "The 4-speed automatic transmission will help drivers glide effortlessly through city traffic, without gear shifts and also superior fuel efficiency of 17 km / litre." The A-star automatic is powered by Suzuki's 998cc K-series engine equipped with advanced A-shift technology.
