      Maruti enhances spending on digital media marketing, plans to tie-up with Google

      Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., the country’s largest car maker, is planning to tie-up with the top search engine - Google – to strengthen its brand image in the digital marketing space. As per the industry sources, the company is currently working closely with the giant search engine. The company’s spending in the field of social media initiatives, mobile advertising and other digital marketing programmes surged to 9.2 crore as compare to the last year’s spending of Rs 4.8 crore.

      In a recent statement, Shashank Srivastava, chief general manager (marketing), Maruti Suzuki, said, "The digital media is changing fast and we feel we require a specialist because we don't have the expertise needed for it." He added that the company needs to engage specialists for the job and these will be specialists who have domain knowledge about a particular area.

      According to him, Maruti and Google have been working closely on the search engine optimization and online reputation management. He added that the search engine helps to catch relevant words online so Maruti can track and even take action if need be.

      Moreover, in a bid to built the brand reputation in other domains, the company is in talks with the specialists of those domains such as Singapore-based Affle (for sms/mobile marketing).
