      Maruti commences production at second unit in Manesar facility

      Maruti Suzuki, the top car maker in the Indian market, said on Saturday that its second unit at its Manesar plant has rolled-out 150 cars along with the joining of another 125 product operation employees. The news came amidst the ongoing tussle between company management and workers at the first plant of Maruti at Manesar. The company has started partial production at the second plant in Manesar so that the production volume can be enhanced considerably.

      In a recent statement, the company said, "The company brought in another batch of 125 ITI-trained and experienced people today." At present about 800 people are employed at this Maruti plant at Manesar.

      While further informing about the current scenario of the production at Manesar, the company said, "With Weld operations in Plant B in place now, and 800 trained and experienced people available, Maruti Suzuki has produced 150 cars."

      At present, the company manufactures about 1200 units daily on an average from this plant that comprises of production of hatchbacks Swift and A-Star, and sedan SX4. Due to the ongoing tussle between workers and company management, the company has lost the production of about 5,625 units of its cars, losing about Rs 280 crore.
