Mahindra is expected to roll out the BS6 Phase 2 update for its lineup as the new emission norms are set to come into effect from 1 April, 2023. The lifestyle off-roader, Mahindra Thar, will also get its powertrain upgraded to meet the new norms. With this, the SUV maker is likely to launch a new base variant of the Thar.
As per the leaked document, the Thar 4x4 could get a new AX (AC) variant alongside the current AX (O) and LX variants. The changes in terms of features and exterior highlights are still unknown.
The new entry-level Thar 4x4 will come equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former produces 150bhp and 320Nm of torque, while the latter churns out 130bhp and 320Nm of torque. As for the transmission, both engines can be had with manual and automatic gearboxes.
