Mahindra had been considering the idea of launching Mahindra Thar for quite some time. At last the company has now announced the launching date of its most awaited new generation Jeep Mahindra Thar. The model had already been introduced in South Africa and European countries and now it is going to make its debut in Indian shore. The launch of Mahindra Thar will take place in Kerala and Rajasthan.
The launching date of this model in India would be 21st December 2010. Initially, the Mahindra Thar had been built for export purpose but after huge response from customers Mahindra decided to début Thar in Indian market.
Mahindra Thar would be a descendant of the MM550 AND MM540, which are defunct models of Mahindra a decade ago. Mahindra Thar is purposely designed for off-roading and one would definitely enjoy off-road driving with this Mahindra Thar. Indeed, Mahindra Thar’s body and frame are known for being sturdy and strong and are built for robust usage.
Mahindra Thar is equipped with 2.5 L CRDe engine with five speed manual transmission. The Thar’s 2498cc diesel engine can deliver 105 BHP @ 3800 RPM. Mahindra Thar proudly has an approach angle of 46 degree and departure angle of 30 degree with 200mm ground clearance, clearly meant for its off-roading.
Apart from that, Thar is equipped with luxury features like air-conditioning, power steering, independent front suspension, powerful diesel engine, and stabilizer bars that guarantee limitless off-roading. The cost of Mahindra Thar ranges between six and eight lakhs. Mahindra Thar available colors in India will be Mist Silver, Arctic White, Toreador Red and Black.
