The only electric car maker in the country Mahindra Reva, which is a unit of the country’s leading car maker Mahindra & Mahindra, is all set to roll-out new Reva NXR model in the Indian market very soon, Besides domestic market, the company will also launch this car in a number of European markets including the likes of UK and Germany, over a period of next 12 to 18 months.
The company is aiming to take the total sales of their electric cars to 30,000 units over the period of next three years, as compared to current sales of 600 units per annum. Next year, the company is targeting the sales mark of 6,000 units.
In a recent statement given to ET, ," Anand Mahindra, M&M Chairman, said, "Apart from penetrating the untapped domestic market, there is huge growth opportunity in some of the overseas markets of Scandinavia and United Kingdom, which is our biggest market. Within six months, we will be feeding it in those markets and eventually add more overseas markets."
Mahindra Reva is expecting to witness a strong demand for electric cars in the Indian market amidst the continuously rising fuel prices and increasing awareness for the electric cars.
