Mahindra and Mahindra has revealed its plans to further expand its manufacturing plant in Zaheerabad. The plant is likely to be utilized in the making of small commercial vehicle that has been codenamed P601 and is likely to be launched soon. The new facility shall produce additional numbers in addition to existing plant that produces about 75,000 units annually.
With the new expansion, the company shall create additional direct and indirect jobs opportunities to about 3,500 workers in both tractor and automotive plants. Apart from the sub-one tonne commercial vehicle the plant shall also be used for the manufacturing four-wheel load and passenger vehicles. The company also has about five manufacturing plants across major places like Chakan, Nashik, Mumbai, Haridwar and Igatpuri.
The company has also invested in development and research center named Mahindra Research Valley where designing and development activity is carried out for both farm as well as automotive equipment developments. Speaking more on the occasion, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive) of M&M Ltd, said, “In fact, six of our suppliers are currently setting up plants in the nearby supplier park, with investments of over Rs.100 crore. This will further maximize industrial activity and operational effectiveness.”
