      Mahindra and Mahindra Limited named as potential future owners of British luxury sports car maker Aston Martin

      The name of Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, the country’s leading Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, has come up as one of the potential future owners of iconic British auto maker - Aston Martin. Investment Dar Co, the controlling shareholders of Aston Martin has approached potential buyers and is seeking to sell an unknown amount of its stake in the British sports and luxury car maker. The news is biggest for an Indian car company, since Tata Motors took over Jaguar and Land Rover premium luxury sports brand in the first half of 2008.

      The Kuwait based firm, Investment Dar Co has about 64 per cent ownership in Aston Martin brand and has approached M&M to become one of the potential suitors, for investment in the iconic British sports luxury automobile marque. Reportedly, Investment Dar Co has hired the services of Rothschild, one of the world's leading independent financial advisory groups, to handle the sales proceedings concerning its stake in Aston Martin.

      Further, it has come up that Investment Dar Co is seeking to generate $ 800 million from its ownership in Aston Martin. So far the company has failed to complete the move, because of the heavy capital involved. Evidently, the company aiming to paying off its current debt with the sell out and so far no information has appeared regarding the chances of M&M taking over Aston Martin. Domestic car enthusiasts are extremely proud of the fact that Tata Motors owns Jaguar Land Rover and if M&M has any chances of owning Aston Martin, then surely the UV maker will be backed by a majority of Indian public.
