Fiat India, the domestic arm of Italian auto maker, has recently introduced a new generation model of its Punto hatchback, named Sport. Industry experts are of a view that the launch of new model seems to be a perfect move to record some decent volumes close to the festive season. Reportedly, the model was showcased at the Fiat Caffe in Bengaluru. It must be noted that the new Punto Sport is a limited edition model and the changes have been only limited to cosmetics updates. Fiat India has offered its new model at a price tag of Rs. Rs.7.6 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The recently introduced Sport edition has been equipped with a roof spoiler, door sills with Punto branding, sport badge, Sport branded floor mats, sporty pedals, red stitching at interiors, new decals and chrome finished exhaust tip. In order to attract the Indian buyers, the model has offered in two colour options, namely Pearl White and Exotica Red with black contrast roof. Interestingly, the outer rear view mirrors of Pearl White-coloured model are painted in red, while black has been offered in the Exotica Red car.
Along with these extra features, the limited edition model is packed with all the normal features that are present in the current generation Punto. Advancements like dual front airbags, immobilizer with rolling code, Fire Prevention System (FPS), Blue & Me technology, auto climate control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), speed sensitive volume and audio remote control have been offered as a part of standard accessory in the limited edition model.
Coming to the technical specifications of the new Punto Sport, it has been powered by the well acclaimed 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine, which churns out a maximum power of 92 bhp along with a torque of up to 209 Nm. Assimilated with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the car delivers an impressive fuel efficiency of 20.5 kmpl.
Auto analysts believe that the limited edition Punto Sport is expected to garner much appreciation from the Indian auto aficionados, owing to its rich features. Also, the existing customers of Punto can have the features of Sport model by purchasing an accessories pack for Rs. 22,000.
