Toyota Motor Corp, the Japanese car maker, is ready to add new and powerful models in its product portfolio in India. It will drive the Land Cruiser SUV in India very soon to bring delight to the SUV lovers in the country.
Land Cruiser is Toyota’s best known model globally which will be imported as a completely built unit in India. This means the Indian customers can expect a hefty price for the model. The new Land Cruiser may cost up to Rs 40 lakh considering the import duty on the CBUs in India. The company will launch a diesel model and is studying the new changes in the import regulations.
"The Land Cruiser is under study and the recent changes to the regulations governing the import of vehicles give us an opportunity to bring the model to India," said Sandeep Singh, deputy MD (marketing) of Toyota's Indian JV Toyota Kirloskar Motors, India.
Toyota already marks its presence in India in the SUV segment with its Prado from the Land Cruiser family which is a petrol model. The company expects higher sales volume with new diesel model in the same segment. "We are hopeful that a diesel engine will give us more volumes and help get a higher market share," Singh said.
