The Japanese two-wheeler bike maker, Kawasaki has opened its new showroom in Kolkata. Chowringhee Kawasaki is located at the popular Chowringhee Road in Kolkata. The new dealership is the sixth-showroom of Kawasaki in Indian market. The Kawasaki Kolkata will handle the sales in the eastern part of the country. Moreover, it happens to be the first showroom in East India. The showroom showcases six super bikes Kawasaki has launched in India, including z800, Ninja ZX-10R, Ninja1000, z1000, Ninja ZX-14R and the recently launched Versys1000. The bikes that are imported as completely built units (CBU) will also be showcased in the new showroom.
Along with this showroom, the Japanese auto maker has showrooms in Pune, Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. The Kolkata showroom is important for Kawasaki India as it will handle its eastern sales. Kawasaki has a large share of the bike market and has been launching its products in India soon after its international launch. Recently, Kawasaki India has also decreased the price if z800 by Rs. 55,000 from it ex-showroom price and has also launched Versys1000, a touring and adventure motorcycle.
The touring bike is priced Rs. 12.9 lakhs, (ex-Pune) and the booking was started in early November 2014. The bike has got a 1043cc engine that churns out a maximum power of 120 bhp with 102 Nm of peak torque. The bike has a 6-speed manual transmission. Also, Kawasaki has added traction control, slipper clutch and three-user-switchable riding modes. The bike has liquid cooled engine and works on fuel injected technology. The bike has a good power to weight ratio that makes it perfect for off-roading.
Yoshitaka Tamura, the Managing Director of Kawasaki India told the press that they are very thankful to Bajaj Auto, the Indian automobile giants they have been collaborating with, for their “continuous support”. He further added that he would like to thanks all the loyal customers. He said that the newly opened Kawasaki showroom in Kolkata would act as a base for further expanding into the North-eastern market of the country.
