The European-spec Hyundai Tucson range is about to get more efficient thanks to the addition of a new engine and gearbox option. In Europe, the bold-looking crossover is being offered with a new 1.7-litre diesel engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox option to attract economy-minded buyers.
The 1.7-litre turbo diesel engine develops 140bhp of power and 340Nm of torque. The 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, on the other hand, is Hyundai’s in-house developed unit which has a claimed 20 per cent higher fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions compared to the old 6-speed automatic gearbox. Hyundai is also offering stop/start technology for improved efficiency.
The Tucson with the 1.7-litre engine and the DCT gearbox will soon go on sale in Europe. Having shown it at the 2016 Auto Expo, Hyundai India will launch the new Tucson later this year with prices hovering between Rs 16 to 20 lakh.
