The upcoming festive season would bring a double bash in the form of Diwali and the launch of the new Hatchback from Hyundai, which has been titled as Eon. India’s second largest automaker Hyundai has been giving in a lot of efforts in making the car and the process has been going on for a long time now. It is believed that during the initial stages the Hatchback was known as H800. The small car is believed to challenge the already very popular car Alto which hails from the giant camp of the India’s largest passenger car brand Maruti Suzuki. The one advantage of Alto over that of Eon is its experience and time period of existing in the Indian auto market, which in turn makes it a more reliable brand. Another aspect that Hyundai needs to watch out for is that, Maruti Suzuki has a vast chain of showrooms stationed across India.

The Hyundai Eon is expected to survive for a long time, as a strong contender, amid cut- throat competition in the Indian auto market. The new hatchback would prepare itself for competing with big names of the industry. The Indian car industry has constantly been very lenient and sober with Hatchbacks and small cars. The new introduction by Hyundai is believed to possess the ability to replace the renowned Hyundai Santro. Hyundai claims that the new small would earn laurels through its high-end performance and decent fuel economy.

Offering a power of about 50bhp and affixed with a three-cylinder 800 cc petrol engine, Hyundai Eon would serve the needs of the Indians generously. On comparing the vehicles, the small hatchback Eon displays a much refreshing and modernised look than Santro and much more appealing than the Maruti Alto. However, the styling department has been offered with a more realistic and toned down look which stands apart from the concept images and provides a practical appearance to the car and hence cuts down on cost. Being able to accommodate four passengers, the seating capacity is quite satisfactory, with the space inside the car to coincide with that of Santro.

Hyundai Eon offers a 3-Pot Petrol Engine, engine displacement of 800cc with a maximum power of 50 Bhp.

Though the launch date has not yet been officially announced for Hyundai Eon, the company has hinted to reveal the Hatchback in October because of festive season Diwali. It is believed that Hyundai is quite confident and is looking forward to the launch of its all-new Eon. With a price tag of less than 3 lac, the Hyundai Eon can be considered as a tough rival for other same segment cars.

The design of Eon comprises of elements that relate to the future technology and has been inspired from Hyundai’s i-series cars. Eon is a compact car with an esteemed styling.  Hyundai has also mulled upon exporting Eon to other countries, in addition to its launch in India. With this small Hatchback, Hyundai desires to perform consistently well, particularly in the Indian market.
