Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has introduced the revised edition of its multiple-award-winning scooter, Dio. The automatic scooter now comes with tubeless tyres, which ensures better stability and braking capabilities, and a more powerful engine than its predecessor. Other alterations made by the company in the vehicle include the new design, sporty integrated posterior and attractive unique 3D emblems.

This new version of Dio is an internationally styled ‘moto scooter’ for the domestic market. However, the original Dio is still deemed to be the only two-wheeler that would have enjoyed tremendous demand despite any revisions, though the changes have been welcomed by Honda buyers.

The low-powered engine of the original Dio was considered as its only shortcoming, as it did not complement its lightweight fibre body. The Japanese automotive giant has corrected that in the new edition, bestowing it with a 110 cc engine instead of the 102 cc engine. With around additional 10 cc, the 2012 Dio can generate 8 hp of maximum power at 7500 rpm and 8.66 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm.

Honda has presented the new Dio as India’s first automatic scooter with tubeless tyres. In conjunction with the combi-brake feature, these tyres will be able to make sure that the scooter is more stable and has better braking efficiency than its previous version.

The company has been able to improve upon the mileage of the original Dio by 15 per cent. The new edition of the scooter delivers fuel efficiency of 55 kmpl (ARAI certified mileage of 66.7 kmpl). Other notable additions in the new Dio include a maintenance-free battery, viscous air filter and a spacious under-seat luggage box.

Talking about the launch of the refreshed Dio, N.K. Rattan, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., commented, “The New Dio has 110 cc powerful engine and offers 15 per cent more fuel economy. It has tubeless tyres - first in category and Combi-Brakes - exclusively in Honda scooters.”

Buyers can order the new Dio in five attractive colours - Sports Red, Matt Axis Grey Metallic, Pearl Sunbeam White, Candy Palm Green and Leblon Violet Metallic. These colours add to the youthful appeal of the scooter, making it look sleek and more aerodynamic. The ‘moto scooter’ will be available for sale by the end of February 2012 at all Honda Exclusive Authorised Dealerships (HEADs) at a price of Rs. 42,362 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
