      Honda India sales rise 30% in April 2014

      Honda Cars India Ltd opened to a good start in the first month of new financial year with 30 per cent rise in April 2014 at 11,040 units as against 8,488 units in the same month last year. Though, the company performed exceedingly well in March 2014 at 18,426 units reporting rise in sales by 83.4 per cent. Ever since Honda introduced new avatar of City sedan in India, available in diesel and petrol engine options, the company has been reporting rise in sales.

      Introduced in January 2014 in India, new City has emerged a tougher competitor for its rivals in C segment. Continuing its high sales trend City sales accounted for 7,044 units in April 2014, though the numbers have fallen as compared to last month when Honda sold 9,518 units. Honda’s yet another popular model from its India line-up, Amaze, registered sales of 3,355 units, however in March 2014, Honda sold almost double units of Amaze (7,374). The other two models from Honda India portfolio, CR-V premium SUV and Brio hatchback contributed 63 and 578 units respectively in April 2014 sales.

      Expressing delight on the company’s performance "Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, "We have started the financial year 2014 - 15 on a positive note and would like thank our customers for the fantastic response to the all new Honda City. We also celebrated the 1st anniversary of Honda Amaze by introducing the anniversary edition and we are confident of its good sales in this fiscal as well."

      At the 2014 Auto Expo, Honda had displayed new Jazz hatchback and Mobilio MPV. Rumours are doing the rounds that Honda could launch the new Mobilio MPV towards the end of second quarter or beginning of third quarter. On the hand new Jazz could make its re-entry in India in the beginning of 2015.
