A facelifted version of Honda’s Brio hatchback has been spotted at a dealership ahead of its debut later this year. This facelift has come after a significant period of the Brio existing in the Indian market.

Exterior updates comprise a new grille, bumpers and headlamps. The wheels have also got a slight update too. The cabin is where maximum change has taken and now the Brio gets updates identical to what we saw on the facelifted Honda Amaze a few months ago. Changes include a new dashboard, music system, climate control system and chrome inserts for the air vents.

The Brio is only offered with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol producing 87bhp/109Nm with power going to the front wheels via a five-speed manual. In the outgoing model an AT option is only offered in the VX and VX (O) variants. The facelifted Amaze introduced a new CVT unit and we believe that the Brio too will get this option as it produced on the same line as the Amaze and is exported from here for various markets.

The Brio, since its debut, has never been a strong seller for Honda a situation created by the lack of  a diesel option as well as the competition surpassing the hatchback in terms of value propositions. This update is likely to put the Brio back in the game which may swing in its favour thanks to a sudden shift in preference by buyers for petrol powered models. Expect a launch closer to Diwali.
