The new generation Honda CR-V is yet under development stage and it has been learnt from the sources that Japanese auto maker has begun testing the SUV. The SUV is expected to be launched in overseas markets by 2015-2016 followed by Indian launch. In India the SUV will be launched as a completely built unit and will be assembled at the company’s Greater Noida facility. Diesel variants are extremely popular in India, therefore we expect the SUV to be offered in diesel version too, however Honda officials have denied the possibility of diesel trims time and again. Honda will be bestowing mostly cosmetic upgrades on the outer and interior of the vehicle, mechanically the vehicle will remain unchanged. Among the new additions a twin port grille with honeycomb mesh background and preeminent two slats with chrome finishing, redesigned head lights, tweaked bumper equipped with revised fog lamps and a secondary airdam are included.

Revivifications made to the rear comprise of reworked windshield, tail lights and bumper. Chrome inserted badge is likely to be placed beneath windshield. Modifications will also be visible inside the cabin, though currently we do not have much information on that. Under the hood, Honda will continue to offer similar engine set up as seen in the current model. In India, the SUV is available in petrol variant only in two engine options- a 2.0 litre and a 2.4 litre engines. The former is capable of producing a top power and torque output of 156 PS and 190 Nm respectively. The high displacement 2.4 litre engine on the other hand yields a pinnacle power and torque output of 190 PS and 226 NM respectively. A six-speed manual gearbox will be offered on the 2.0 litre engine while a five automatic transmission will be put on offer on the 2.4 litre engine. High end variant could also be offered with the on demand all-wheel drive system just like the current line-up.
