Honda has recently added some features to Brio and Amaze sedan. Now, the company is contemplating a CNG powered version of the Amaze for the Indian car market. It will be based on the petrol model, which is powered by the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol motor. The engine will be modified to work on CNG fuel. The customers will get an option to toggle between petrol and CNG fuels. On CNG run, the Amaze is expected to get slightly lower power and torque figures.

The Amaze CNG will be the second Honda car to use CNG fuel in India. The 3rd generation City model comes with an added CNG kit as a dealer fitment. The CNG tank is likely to be fitted inside the luggage space, which will cut down the boot space. The reason behind the addition CNG option to the Amaze is the low running cost of CNG compared to petrol as well as diesel. The CNG variant of the Honda Amaze is expected to be priced around Rs. 50,000 more than the petrol variant, while the oil burner cost around Rs. 1 lakh over the price of a CNG Amaze.

Currently, the diesel Amaze is propelled by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC motor that is claimed to return an excellent ARAI certified fuel economy of 25.8kmpl. Its gasoline version is the 1.2-litre i-VTEC that also powers the Brio, and this is the same engine which also combined with CNG to power the Amaze compact sedan.
