To ensure safety and heighten the morale of Maruti Suzuki’s officials working at Manesar production plant, the state government of Haryana has come up with a decision to offer special personnel to the company’s staff for security. The move is targeted especially at those employees who feel threatened after the miserable strife at the company’s manufacturing unit in July 2012, as reported by RS Dalal, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana. He further added, “It’s difficult to tell the exact number of officials wanting the security at the moment.”

In the violent riots, a General Manager (GM) from the Human Resources Department (HRD) of Maruti Suzuki lost his life, while 100 others were injured. Just after the strife, the auto maker was forced to announce the shutting down of production at its Manesar plant, stating that the health and safety of its employees was the prime concern of Maruti.

Reportedly, the state government has asked the company to frame a list of officials, who are desirous of the security cover. Elaborating further on the statement, the DGP said, “Many among the officials seeking security cover may be witnesses in the case.” Moreover, the government is also planning to set up a strong battalion of 650 police officials, which will be headed by an IPS officer, in the industrial area of Manesar,. Dalal said, “After the unfortunate incident at Maruti plant, we are doing all efforts to restore normalcy.”

The government came to this conclusion at a time when the state police force has demanded for the recruitment of additional 11,500 policemen along with 100 DSPs. The move of the state government shows that it is really concerned for the officials of Maruti Suzuki, who are feeling threatened after the unpleasant incident at Manesar.
