Ford India, the well known American auto maker, has officially announced to launch the refreshed version of its much appreciated Figo hatchback in the Indian auto market on March 4, 2013. Named as Figo Celebration Edition, the upcoming launch will celebrate the third anniversary of the model at a ceremony in New Delhi. Initially introduced in 2010, Ford Figo happens to be one of the hot selling cars of the American auto maker in the Indian auto market. As per reports, Figo accounts for over 80 per cent of the total sales of Ford India Private Limited in the Indian market.
Interestingly, the model was provided with a facelift just last year, which boosted its sales. More than 130 changes were provided to the model, which made it one of the feature-rich models in its respective segment. The modifications include reworked head and tail lights, steering mounted controls, redesigned front bumper and new colour options.
However this time, auto analysts believe that the Figo is expected to feature few cosmetic changes at both interiors as well as exteriors. The exterior changes are anticipated to flaunt a rear spoiler, side skirts and new edition decals. On the other hand, interiors of 2013 Ford Figo are expected to get premium upholstery with some changes at the gear knob and centre console. Reportedly, the technical configuration of the upcoming Figo will be kept same with the 1.2 litre petrol engine churning out a maximum power of 75 bhp. The diesel guise will feature the 1.4 litre powertrain, which will belt out a maximum power of 70 bhp with a nominal torque.
It must be noted that earlier rumours were spread in the market that the American auto maker will be launching its much awaited compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), EcoSport in the country on March 4. However, the launch of model has come as true news on March 4 from Ford, but the awaited EcoSport has been replaced by the facelift Figo hatchback.
