Ford India, one of the fastest growing car makers in the country, is believed to be gearing-up for its next big launch – the Ford Focus sedan – in the Indian auto market. The car is expected to hit the Indian roads by year 2012. The company had early launched the compact hatchback Figo in the country in March 2010, which has met with a staggering response from the Indian buyers.
The Ford Focus model was first introduced in year 1999 and has become one of the key volume driving Ford cars in the global market. The Focus sedan will come powered by a 2.0L engine that is capable of delivering a peak power of 160 bhp. Looking at the ongoing trend in the segment of premium sedans, the Ford Focus model is expected to be offered in both manual and automatic transmission versions.
At present, the Focus model is available in two different variants in the US market including a five door hatchback and a four door sedan. Launch of Focus in India will certainly strengthen company’s India portfolio along with boosting its market share.
Besides Figo, the company currently sells some of the most popular cars in the country including the Ford Fiesta and luxury SUV (sports utility vehicle) Ford Endeavour.
