Ford India, the domestic arm of American auto maker, has introduced an all new Figo Celebration edition in the Indian auto market. With the launch of the new model, the car maker is celebrating the 3 anniversary of its Figo hatchback in the country. The model was introduced to the domestic audience at a ceremony organised in New Delhi on March 4, 2013. Initially, Ford brought its flagship Figo in the Indian market somewhere in 2010 and now the car is known as the company’s best selling model in the country.
Expressing his views at the launch ceremony, the President and Managing Director of Ford India, Joginder Singh was quoted as saying, “Figo has been a big game-changer for Ford and for the small car segment in India. The Figo has helped redefine the value proposition offered to customers... Today, we celebrate Figo’s three years of success with the launch of this limited “Celebration Edition”. I would like to thank our customers for their loyalty and continuing trust in the Ford brand, and thank our dealers, suppliers, and employees for their support in establishing a great foundation for success. The Ford team has gone further by co-creating content based on direct input from our valued customers, with the support of leading fashion experts. The already loved Figo has become more chic and desirable.”
It must be noted that the technical figures of the recently launched Figo has been kept same. The new edition model has been offered in both petrol and diesel engine options, namely a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.4 litre diesel. The petrol guise of Ford Figo has the potential to belt out a maximum power of 75 bhp, whereas the diesel engine can produce 70 bhp of power. Adding to the performance of this model, its five-speed manual transmission system is doing a great job. Interestingly, price of the recently introduced model is slightly higher than the current generation model, which is available at Rs. 3.85 lakh.
Since its launch, the model has been provided with several makeovers with latest one offered in 2012. Following its success, the recently launched Celebration Edition is provided with new features and few cosmetics changes. The interiors and exteriors of the new model look more impressive, which will probably make it a more competent model in the hatchback segment of the Indian auto sector.
The special edition variant has received a redesigned rear spoiler, side skirts and body decals, which makes it stand apart from other rivals of the same segment. Coming to the exteriors designing of the new avatar, redesigned upholstery is seen, which complements its new stalks and gear knob. A new paint job has been also provided to the Special Celebration Edition Figo with a number of additional features like sporty alloy wheels.
