Ford’s much-awaited compact sedan – the Figo Aspire – will be launched in India today (August 12, 2015). The company has already started taking booking orders for the vehicle at Rs. 30,000. The Ford Figo Aspirethat will take on the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, will be produced at the company’s Gujarat facility.
Powering the Figo Aspire is an efficient engine lineup – a 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol, a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel – that deliver 86.8bhp, 98.6bhp and 110.4bhp respectively. The 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel mills are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the 1.5-litre petrol mill gets a 6-speed ‘Powershift’ dual clutch automatic (first-in-segment).
This compact sedan will be made available in four trims - Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium + - and seven color options – Deep Impact Blue, Oxford White, Smoke Grey, Sparkling Gold, Ingot Silver, Ruby Red and Tuxedo Black. Coming to the dimensions, the Figo Aspire measures 3, 995mm in length, 1, 695mm in width, 1, 525mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2, 491mm. It weighs 995kgs – 1, 048kgs (variant-wise), and has a ground clearance of 174mm. The short turning radius (4.9 meters) makes it compatible for city driving.
As far as the features are concerned, the compact sedan comes equipped with Ford’s SYNC technology and Applink entertainment system, curtain airbags (first-in-segment), automatic climate control, MyKey customizable driving key, dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency assistance, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), etc.
The Ford Figo Aspire is expected to be priced between Rs. 5.50 lakh – Rs. 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
