Nissan Motor India Private Limited, a completely owned subsidiary of the Japanese auto maker Nissan Motor Co., has revealed the first impression of its new Terrano premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Mumbai on June 11, 2013. The company is expected to roll out its Terrano model in the Indian auto market sometime by the end of ongoing 2013-14 financial year. From the revealed first sketch, the Nissan Terrano looks futuristic and boasts of sturdy build and massive on-road presence.
As per reports, the Nissan Terrano would be locally assembled at the Japanese auto maker's Oragadam manufacturing facility near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This would mean that the upcoming Terrano is set to become Nissan's fourth locally built model for the Indian auto market. At present, Nissan Motor India manufactures three vehicles from its Oragadam plant, namely premium hatch Micra, mid-size sedan Sunny and Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) Evalia.
Speaking his mind on the new Nissan Terrano premium SUV, Kenichiro Yomura, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Nissan Motor India Private Limited, was quoted as saying, “I am delighted to reveal both the name and the very first image of what will be a very important model for Nissan.” He further added, “ You can see from the sketch that Terrano has a bold and distinctive design that I am confident will appeal to our growing customer base in India, as will its driving performance and range of other features that will be revealed at a later date.” Yomura affirmed that yet-to-be launched Terrano would play a major role in increasing Nissan's sales within the Indian auto market.”
