      Distribution agreement signed between Tata Motors and Apex Greatest Industrial Co. Ltd., Myanmar

      In order to distribute Tata passenger cars and commercial vehicles in Myanmar, Tata Motors entered into an alliance with Apex Greatest Industrial Co. Ltd. (AGI). On May 26, the purchase and sale agreement was signed at Nay Pyi Taw, the capital city of Myanmar. The representatives of Tata Motors were Johnny Oommen, Head – International Business (Passenger Vehicles) and R. T. Wasan, Head – International Business (Commercial Vehicles), whereas AGI Myanmar was represented by its chairman, U Kyi Thein.

      A turnkey contract was signed between an enterprise registered with the Government of Myanmar’s Ministry of Industry-2, Myanma Automobile & Diesel Industries Limited (MADI) and Tata Motors. For establishing a heavy truck assembly unit at Magwe in the Central Myanmar, the contract was signed in March 2010. An assistance of a US$ 20 million Line of Credit has been attained from the Government of India for this project. Inaugurated in December 2010, the unit is now operational.

      Annual production capacity of the plant is 1,000 vehicles, which can be increased to 5,000 units. This plant has flexible frame assembly line and chassis including a cab manufacturing section. Other facilities of the plant are trimming set-up and paint shop.
