The much anticipated Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MUV on Thursday marked its debut in the Indian auto market in the price segment of Rs 5.89 lakh to Rs 7.30 lakh. As expected the car is rolled-out in both petrol and diesel versions, with a commendable mileage figure of 16 km per liter and 20 km per liter, respectively. The Ertiga is the first car model that has been developed specially for the Indian market by MSI.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, CEO & MD, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.,said, "Ertiga is a major step forward for Maruti Suzuki. Many urban families in India are now looking for a vehicle that offers more space and flexibility than a sedan, without being bulky, bland and expensive like a utility vehicle. Ertiga is designed for these customers."

The market watchers are expecting that the Maruti Ertiga will be giving a tough fight to the likes of Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo. Moreover, the upcoming Ford EcoSport will also be a major competitor to the Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga, creating a new segment of its own.

Both the petrol and diesel versions of the car are offered in three variants including Lxi, Vxi and Zxi in petrol and Ldi, Vdi, and Zdi in diesel version.
