The steep decline in the automobile growth rate in June has forced many carmakers to review their future strategies if they want to survive in the Indian auto market. To overcome the hit, car companies are coming up with their diesel range of cars to speed up their sales.

High petrol prices, increased interest rates are held responsible for the nearly two-year low sales growth in the country. From the highest growth rate of 30 percent last fiscal year, it is speculated to drastically fall at 12 to 13 percent this year.

Most of the companies have already started their diesel car production with GM almost ready to roll over its sizzling Chevrolet Beat diesel later this month. Indian car giant, Maruti is also lining up diesel versions for its sensational Swift and SX4 cars. When the conversation of car giants is going on Hyundai is bound to come into play, the South Korean carmaker went a step forward and made 10 versions of its successful Verna RB in petrol and diesel engine.

The response can be judged by the fact that Verna fluidic diesel variants have an exhausting 6 months waiting time. The proud sales managing director at Hyundai Motors, Mr Arvind Saxena said, "The new Verna, which we launched in May, is a very special car. We have four engine options and six transmission options. This is a big choice for customers. That is the reason why our bookings are increasing and people are loving the car."

The nearest competitor to Verna fluidic is the recently launched Ford Fiesta which is also available with diesel option and importantly at more competitive pricing.

Effect of slow down can be sensed with the car makers going beyond their conventional limit to lure customers. Companies like Volkswagen, Tata Motors are financing cars on their own and at much faster pace to facilitate buyers.
