Japanese car maker, Honda is reportedly planning to unveil the next generation model of its flagship sedan, City. According to sources, the car would make its global premiere in India on 25th November 2013. Reports from company insiders have suggested that the auto maker has stopped the production of incumbent City model, which has further cemented the claims that the launch of City 2014 is on the cards. Reports have also suggested that the dealers of Honda are trying to clear the old stock of the sedan by offering discounts worth Rs. 40,000 on the current City model. However, the company has not released any information regarding the launch of its new sedan and trying to maintain its silence, as of now.

It is being learnt that some dealers of Honda have already commenced the bookings of new Honda City by taking huge sums in advance. With prices ranging from Rs. 40000 to Rs. 50000, dealers have already started taking bookings of the most anticipated car from Honda. However, the dealers are not providing an exact delivery date as the company is expected to manufacture the new City in January 2014. Till now, Honda has kept a low-profile in spilling out the details on 2014 City as the company officials have not provided any concrete information regarding the design philosophy or engine configurations offered in the upcoming sedan. Widely believed to be built on the same platform of upcoming Jazz model, the new City is expected to be evolutionary than ever. At present, very minute details are available regarding the different specifications of the car but as the unveiling date nears, more information is expected to divulge out soon.

Rumours are doing the rounds that Honda might power the City 2014 with the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine but in differently tuned output. Also to mention, it would be for the first time that any City model would be offered in a diesel version as the 1.5-litre i-DTEC powertrain is expected to feature in City 2014. Industry experts are of an opinion that the diesel version of City 2014 would generate a large amount of consumer interest and demand despite the improvements made in the engine of petrol version. In terms of dimensions, the upcoming City is expected to be marginally longer than the outgoing version. As Honda is known for giving superior interior quality packaging, the new City would stay true to the reputation of the company.

The premium quality fabrics combined with advanced features will make upcoming City all more desirable than ever. With this, the new City is expected to set benchmarks for comfort and space in its segment as it would get an advanced automatic air conditioning system and Bluetooth connectivity as standard features. The move to launch next-generation Honda City much ahead of its schedule comes on the back of low sales, which accounted for mere 31 units in October 2013 as compared to 2043 units sold in September 2013. The deliveries for Honda City 2014 are expected to roll out from January next year as it would not be possible for the company to address the proposed demand for its sedan at present.
