The M’s unmistakeable design cues were found hiding beneath the heavily camouflaged M5 that was shot testing in Spain.

In fact, there have been a few sightings of the M5 test mule so far, and it was also spotted at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. What makes this instance so special is that the test car looked different from the others caught on camera till date. Changes include a new design for the front bumper with larger air intakes and sharper headlamps (similar to the 7 Series).

Nevertheless, the usual M design traits that shape the upcoming M5 are the flared fenders, four exhausts, huge brakes and lots of rubber to burn. It is speculated that power for this edition of the M5 could also be from a twin-turbocharged V8. Though BMW has always stuck to rear wheel-drive, the competition has shifted to all-wheel drives over a period of time. Rumours now have it that the newer generations of the M5 could be offered with AWD as an option. We’ll have to wait for this one to find out..
