BMW's next-gen M5 spied testing at their Nurburgring centre

The upcoming BMW M5 has been spied testing near the company's testing centre in Nurburgring. The next-gen version of the car gets some cosmetic changes and is also expected to get a higher power output.

The camouflaged test mule of the BMW M5 was spied taking rounds near the company's Nurburgring test centre. The front profile features a new twin kidney grille and revised bumpers. These sport bigger lower intakes with mesh inserts. The side profile shows off the new black alloy wheels that are expected to be lightweight and strengthened wheels. The four-tailpipe exhaust system takes up the sporty quotient a notch higher than the current M5.

According to reports the new BMW M5 is expected to be powered by an upgraded 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine. This mill might churn out 626bhp of power instead of the current 560bhp. The car is expected to shed around 220pounds making it a lighter than the existing version. This will also enable the performance car to do the 0-100kmph sprint even quicker, may be less than four seconds.

This next-gen BMW M5 might be, for the first time, offered with an all-wheel-drive system as an option making it useful for owners in cold countries. We can only expect the new M5 to be officially unveiled globally next year as the new 5 Series will break cover this year.
