The 520d engine will be tuned to yield increased power output by 6 PS at 187 PS and 20 NM more torque output at 400 Nm. Tweaked motor will also enable the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph within 7.9 seconds. On the other hand emission levels have been lowered with CO2 emissions decreased to 114g/km. An eight-speed transmission seen in most of the BMW vehicles will perform duty on the 520d.

The 518d version of 5 Series has also received revivification, this entry level model is available for sale in international markets only. BMW has also modified 518d engine to deliver an increased power output by 7 PS at 150 PS and the maximum torque output has also been raised insignificantly. Refined 518d motor helps sprint the vehicle to 100 kmph from 0 within 9.5 seconds. Emission level of CO2 is same in both the models at 114g/km.
