Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi had to bring his own bulletproof car to Goa as the tourism state had no such vehicle available for persons needing Z plus security. Around 400 top level BJP leaders are in Goa for for the party's national executive meeting and the state police had to procure bulletproof vehicles from neighbouring states like Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat.

As per reports, the bulletproof vehicles are provided to only those people with Z plus security in the country. Modi is entitled to a Z plus security along with top BJP leaders like Murli Manohar Joshi and L. K. Advani, but still had to bring his personal bulletproof car from Gujarat, since it is not available with the Goa state police. For the moment, 3 bulletproof cars have been provided to Goa police for the security of Z plus persons by the neighbouring states.

A state police official said, “Only those with Z plus security are entitled to a bulletproof car.” Further, O. P. Mishra, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Goa Police was quoted as saying, “Since a bulletproof vehicle was not available in Goa, Modi brought his own vehicle. When the need arises, we make a special request and requisition bulletproof cars from the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. It is an exchange of resources between the police force.”

Goa Chief Minister (CM) Manohar Parrikar has affirmed that 'internal security' of BJP leaders would be taken care by the party itself. However, the Goa state police had to be ready as well and procured the required bulletproof cars for security of senior BJP leaders during the ongoing national executive meeting.
