Expressing his views regarding the arrival of Husqvarna models on Indian turf, Stefan Pierer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KTM Auto, was quoted as saying, “First Husqvarna motorcycle will be launched in India in 2 years. Proposed Husky model for India to be made at Bajaj's Chakan plan will use joint engine platforms of Bajaj - KTM for Husky models. Joint-engine platform to be used for 125 cc – 200 cc segment for Husqvarna."

The Italian auto maker, Husqvarna is globally renowned as an off-road sports bike manufacturer and its products are actually one of the stiffest rivals of KTM. At present, the KTM - Bajaj joint venture retails the Duke 200 bike in the Indian auto market, which is assembled locally at the company's Chakan-based production facility. As per reports, there are around 8,500 Duke 200 units plying on Indian turf and the KTM – Bajaj alliance is hopeful of reaching the 10,000 mark soon. The KTM CEO has already affirmed possibility of an India specific and locally assembled Husqvarna bike in the next two years or so. In all fairness, the Indian sports bike enthusiasts will surely welcome a new world-class motorcycle brand in the country.
