Bajaj Auto, the home-grown bike maker, will launch various new bikes in the country this year. The company is also readying a series of new bikes under Pulsar range including Pulsar 200SS, 400SS, CS400, 160NS and 200AS. The company did recently held a private showcase of the 200SS to media personnel from Indonesia at the Akurdi manufacturing unit in Pune, Maharashtra. The 200SS is undoubtedly the most awaited bike of this year, and it will be launched in our market in March this year.
Based on the Pulsar 200 NS, the affordable 200SS sports bike shares its styling cues with the Pulsar 400 SS shown at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show as concept. It is powered by the same 199.5cc single-cylinder engine that also powers the naked 200NS and is capable of producing 23.5PS of power. This engine will feature a six-speed transmission that sends power to roads. The bike features an extra fairing, which makes it heavier than the naked sibling. We expect that the engine will be tweaked to maintain performance and fuel efficiency.
To be offered in two variants- with and without ABS, the Pulsar 200 SS is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 1.2 lakh to Rs. 1.4 lakh. The ABS unit is expected to be a single-channelled Bosch-made unit. It is likely to come in four shades- Black as permanent, while dual-tone shade includes yellow, red and blue paired with white.
