      Bajaj Auto to launch the new Pulsar 200NS in the beginning of the next fiscal year

      Bajaj Auto, the world’s fourth largest two and three wheeler manufacturer, has showcased its new product, the Pulsar 200NS for the motorbike aficionados. The price of this sports bike was not revealed during the unveiling ceremony, but as per sources, the new Pulsar 200NS will be priced under Rs. 1 lac. The sports bike will be launched in April and bike lovers can get this mean machine from any of the 600 dealers across India.

      Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto graced the unveiling ceremony. He told reporters that, "The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS is best middle-class sports bike. It will be commercially launched beginning next fiscal through 600 dealers across the country. The price is expected to be below Rs. 1 lac."

      The company earlier grabbed headlines for its off-roader bike, KTM Duke 200 that had already been launched in the Indian automobile market. The KTM Duke 200 and yet to be launched Pulsar 200 NS share some features. Crankshaft, piston and connecting rod are similar in both the bikes. In addition, the bore and stroke of both the bikes are 72mm and 49mm respectively.

      According to company officials, the new Pulsar 2012 can attain a top speed of 136 kmph. Once this model is launched it will become the fastest motorbike ever introduced by an Indian firm. The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS will be manufactured at company’s Chakan facility in Pune, Maharashtra, which can manufacture 1, 00,000 units per month.

      For new model, Bajaj Auto introduced the triple spark liquid cooled engine that has 200cc single cylinder with a SOHC 4 valves. The company earlier had been using DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark-ignition) technology for previous Pulsar motorbikes.

      As far as engine is concerned, the new Pulsar 2012 is equipped with a 199.5cc engine that can produce maximum power of 23 hp at 9500 rpm and maximum torque of 18.3 Nm at 8000 rpm. This power-packed engine can reach 60 kmph in mere 3.61 seconds and 100 kmph in 9.8 seconds. The new bike delivers impressive mileage of 58 kmpl, if the bike is driven at an average speed of 55 kmph.

      The new Pulsar 200NS is 2017 mm in length, 804 mm in width, 1195 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1363 mm. It weighs 145 kg, making the new model 7 kg lighter than Pulsar 200 DTS-i. 10 spoke alloy wheels, 6 speed gearbox, wrap around tank shield, delectable rear registration, sculpted front mudguard and the Darth Vader headlamp are some of its stand out features.

      Nitrox Mono Shock Absorber with independent gas canister (rear), 37 mm Telescopic Front Fork with Antifriction Bush (front), 280 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brake and stand alarm have been incorporated in the new Pulsar 2012. The sports bike has low fuel indicator, low battery indicator, digital speedometer, low oil indicator, analogue tachometer, passenger footrest and 12V, 8AH VRLA battery. In addition, this model has 100/80 - 17,52P - 130/70 - 17,61P sized tubeless wheels.

      Bajaj Auto has revealed that it would be rolling new variants of its Pulsar bikes every year. The soon to be launched Pulsar 200NS would compete against Honda CBR250R and Hero Honda Karizma ZMR.
