      Azharuddin's son Ayazuddin meets with a fatal bike crash

      Mohammed Azharuddin, the former Indian cricket captain and Lok Sabha member lost his son Mohammed Ayazuddin on Friday as his condition showed no signs of improvement after he was admitted. Ayazuddin was badly injured after he met with an accident five days ago, when he lost control of his sportsbike at Puppalaguda on Outer Ring Road of Hyderabad on September 11.

      The 19-year-old was laid to rest on Friday evening at a graveyard in Santosh Nagar after 'Nahmaz-e-Janaza' at the historic Mecca Masjid in the old city. The place witnessed plethora of mourners gathered to pay their last respects to Mohammed Ayazuddin. Azharuddin was consoled by relatives, friends and eminent personalities of the city who joined the burial procession.

      Ayazuddin breathed his last at 11.51 am and died due to hypoxic encephalopathy, said a statement released by the Apollo Hospital, where the youngster was battling for his life. The very talented and a rising cricketer bore the injuries in the motorbike crash which had claimed the life of that of his cousin, Ajmal-ur-Rahman. His cousin was riding pillion with him and succumbed to the injuries a couple of hours after both of them were taken to the hospital. The high-end sports bike disbalanced and as a result, skidded off the road when Ayazuddin was riding it at a high speed, says the police.

      Ayazuddin's mother and Azharuddin's first wife Naureen Azharuddin, his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani and close kin were present at the hospital when the sad news broke out.

      Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy also made his way to the hospital and consoled Azharuddin, who was quite jolted by the incident. State ministers and members of Parliament including Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and leaders of ruling Congress party also expressed their condolences to the former cricketer.

      Ayazuddin's body was brought to Azharuddin's house in Banjara Hills, after autopsy. Ayazuddin was the younger brother of the two sons that Azharuddin had from his first wife, Naureen, whom he divorced later to marry former actress Sangeeta Bijlani.

      Doctors at Apollo Hospital said Ayazuddin maintained an abysmal health and a deteriorating condition when he was put on the ventilator as soon as he was brought to the hospital. They conveyed that he was brought to the hospital with a cardiac arrest and injury to some part of his kidneys. The doctors then decided to remove one kidney in order to cease the bleeding. However, according to a medical bulletin which was released late on Thursday, tests conducted on him indicated brain dysfunction.

      Ayazuddin was pursuing B.Com at St. Mary's College and was a second-year student. In school, he use to display good cricketing talent and had an appreciating record in the game. The Hyderabad Cricket Association also expressed grief over the sad demise of Ayazuddin. His friends were also in a state of deep shock.

      For Ayazuddin's coach John Sanjay, it was quite difficult to digest the fact that the upcoming cricketer was no more. He stated "We lost a very promising cricketer. He was very disciplined, a talented batsman and used to play like his father"
